Economic Growth and Ecological Harmony are fundamentally conflicting goals

China's recent history is a great example that technologically driven economic (hyper) growth and ecological harmony are fundamentally conflicting goals: China used to be 40% renewables. Then economic growth happened. Bottomed in 2011 at 7.4% Now at 10%, with 1.8% from solar PV and wind. Fossil fuels still provide 87.3% of all primary energy. Data source: IEA.
