Silence
“Modern man has lost the option of silence. Try halting sub-vocal speech. Try to achieve even ten seconds of inner silence. You will encounter a resisting organism that forces you to talk. That organism is the word.” ~ William S. Burroughs, The Ticket That Exploded

During his years of service, he used marijuana, mescaline, amphetamines, and LSD. The Late John Judge along with Mae Brussell maintained that the type of “acid” the Manson Family used was a special military version, unlike the stuff found on the streets, and though it was called “acid” was actually different from LSD-25. It is believed that the MK-ULTRA version of “acid” was a psilocybin derivative called EA 1729 that was used at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, home to Himmler’s SS Rocket Team, as part of MK-ULTRA experiments. Reportedly, this is the same “acid” that a buddy of David Berkowitz’s named Terry Patterson – who served with him in Korea – claimed Berkowitz was given by the “brass” while he served in the Army. Berkowitz was placed in a special program for “profiled” candidates, after he asked for conscientious objector status. Mae Brussell was convinced that Berkowitz was another in a long list of MK-ULTRA patsies, and hilariously referred to him as “Son of Uncle Sam”.
