Generative Storytelling Media
Predication: If you put a ML "story+image generator" into a tight feedback loop with humans that co-steer it in real-time (by speaking & sketching) - you get a new entertainment genre, distantly related to RPG's. This new form of storytelling will be very popular in a few years.

The current excitement around Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning is mostly missing the bigger picture: There is a ghost in the machine and a machine inside the ghost. This century won't be predominately defined by AGI, Robotics or Biotech - but by breakthroughs in inter-species comms and the democratization (and rebranding) of energy work, practical magic & engineered paranormal activity.

Prediction: After all is set and done with the current global "ordo ad chao" terror campaign, science - the leading institutions of post-"enlightenment" humanity - will widely be perceived as a morally bankrupt, failed enterprise. Calls for the separation of state and science and something akin to Nuremberg trials 2.0 will get much louder - accelerating the implosion of the established scientific system. Just to be clear, I am not referring to the idealized fantasy version of science that people tirelessly praise (the scientific method, skeptical inquiry, etc.), but science as it is practiced in actuality today (Global domination by a few western colonial elite universities and corporations. An epic reproducibility crisis. A cult of gate-keepers and closed-sourced "sacred knowledge". Massive corruption and privatization on all levels. Money buys any scientific "truth", "credibility" and personnel. Militarization of most scientific domains. Dreadful moral/ethical track-record. Out of touch with the needs of people. Et cetera.)

Prediction: By mid 2020, all major Silicon Valley CEOs will highlight "Climate Change" as part of their keynotes. It will be framed as "a problem that can be solved with technological progress" (A.I etc.). And it will be predominately very expensive PR bullshit with no impact.

Theory: Words such as synthetic (as in "synthetic biology") or artificial (as in "artificial intelligence") are popular, cause they provide us with a fake sense of control, certainty & separation. Talking about creating *real* intelligence or life is a very different ballgame.

Prediction: Before 2021, the existence of the US "social score" system will be made public. It combines all available data about citizens (social, crime, health, finance, location, etc.) in one database, which is used to predict the value of citizens. Low score = No Fly etc.

@vakibs asks: Are you really that hopeful? They are cutting edge in how to abuse face recognition. A part of me hopes for China to realize its Daoist heritage. But I am really not convinced by the current leadership. It will most likely push for mass surveillance and not ecological health.

It won't be utopia, more Gaia. While I don't fully agree with the visions & conclusions of thinkers like Latour or Rifkin, they are at least soberly and cunningly discussing the coming politics of Gaia. My answer: exactly, a "competitive advantage" - a notion which itself is being eclipsed by more complex and dynamic model (see Actor–network theory etc). Plus it is time to say this clearly: The fairies, ents and river spirits are waking up & demanding from us to dance to a different beat.

Prediction: Coming soon to Google & Amazon Assistance: "Emotional Care": The AI constantly checks the emotional state of the people in the room (couples/families) & gives vocal warnings if the mood goes "bad". People will love it. I find this vision deeply troubling.
