French army gets ethical go-ahead for bionic soldiers (CNN)
The French armed forces now have permission to develop "augmented soldiers" following a report from a military ethics committee. The report, released to the public on Tuesday, considers medical treatments, prosthetics and implants that improve "physical, cognitive, perceptive and psychological capacities," and could allow for location tracking or connectivity with weapons systems and other soldiers.
China has done human testing to create biologically enhanced super soldiers, says top U.S. official (NBC)

Before 2020 comes to a close, Jupiter and Saturn will be so close that they will appear to form a "double planet." The great conjunction, as the planetary alignment has come to be known, hasn't occurred in nearly 800 years. When their orbits align every 20 years, Jupiter and Saturn get extremely close to one another. This occurs because Jupiter orbits the sun every 12 years, while Saturn's orbit takes 30 years — every couple of decades, Jupiter laps Saturn, according to NASA. However, 2020's conjunction is especially rare — the planets haven't been observed this close together since medieval times, in 1226.

Ancient Qigong Practice Illustrations
Xiuzhen miyao, a gymnastic (daoyin/qigong) text of unknown origin, was rediscovered and published with a preface by Wang Zai in 1513 (8th year of the Zhengde reign period of the Ming dynasty). It records 49 exercises. This illustration depicts Lü zu jiu ji fa (Ancestor Lü's technique for rescuing from illness), a technique used to free blocked Qi channels. It is practised as follows: One adopts a standing position. If the blocked channels are on the left side of the body, one conducts one's gong power with the left hand and focuses the attention on the left side, raising the left arm while circulating Qi. The same procedure is carried out on the right, if that side is affected.

Thousands of files stolen from NATO cybersecurity contractor (RT)
Italian police have arrested two suspects on charges of stealing sensitive data from the computers of Italian defense group Leonardo. The company provides cybersecurity services to NATO. Over two years, the hackers managed to steal some 10 gigabytes of data equaling some 100,000 files, including management and human resources records, information on procurement and distribution of capital goods as well as documents related to the design of civil and military aircraft. The virus also infected over 50 computers belonging to other companies and individuals that were active in the aerospace industry.
