Apparently originally can't be generated yet..
Spent a few hours checking out all the new generative AI startups. Is it just me or are they mostly just re-hashes of 30+ year old ideas, with some "AI fairy dust" on top? Mostly presented in a super tame and boring style. Apparently originality can't be generated yet..

New GWAS research found genetic links between poor math ability and most psychiatric disorders. Links between strong language ability and schizophrenia and employment in creative professions were also found.
#Comment: They measure genetic predictors of only 30,982 individuals in "school performance" which is a strange metric awarded by a strange institution, and then ignore the complex web of influences and make bold claims. Pathways to eu-gene-ics?
"There are no genes 'for intelligence.' Mutations in thousands of genes indirectly and non-specifically affect intelligence." - From Innate: How the Wiring of Our Brains Shapes Who We Are, by Kevin Mitchell, Princeton University Press (2018).

"'I Don't Believe You:' Artist Banned from r/Art Because Mods Thought They Used AI"
#Comment: Pandora's Box is open & likely won't close again. Soon enough people will doubt every piece of content, as it could be synthetic.

Federated Social Media, same old shit in a new dress?
After a while of intensive usage, I've come to the conclusion that In some ways Mastodon is even worse than legacy corporate social media like Twitter & Facebook. The format has fundamentally not changed and trapping People in unhealthy echo-chambers & manipulate them is the norm & getting easier todo.

Using ChatGPT to brainstorm and improve prompts that are used to prompt ChatGPT with, works astonishingly well. These humble beginning of iterative self-improvement are mind boggling.

Kombucha electrical spiking paper. Moving towards deciphering language of kombucha zoogleal mats. #Comment: In the near future people will start to appreciate that we are surrounded by highly complex communities of alien beings that together are super intelligent... and taste excellent.

Kickstarter & Patreon suspend "Unstable Diffusion"
#Comment: Censoring all uncensored generative AI models will very likely create a very expansive and very dark model underground market. Additionally, it once again illustrates just how extremely control hungry and small minded the US big tech mafia is - which constitutes a far greater risk to global society than any amount of high quality generative porn.

Money can't buy good taste - just look at the style of the rich. A.I can't automatically generate good taste - just look at the style of most of "AI Art". What is good taste? How does one get it? Does it even matter?

Culture has become a tiny clown circus
Through network analysis and sense making methods, it's easy to see just how tiny the western "thought leader" circus is in domains such as science, technology, philosophy, entrepreneurship, economics and entertainment. A highly controlled, self-referential echo-chamber where real innovation and dissent are sacrilege. And the few true outliers are mostly there as fish bait to guide surveillance systems and/or as controlled opposition. Great for comedy, bad for all else.

From Artefacts to Experiences and Transformations
#Comment: If you want to know what A.I will automate first, follow this spectrum from left to right.

The automation of social engineering, influence- and psychological operations, information- and cognitive warfare at scale was one of the biggest early successes of Artificial Intelligence. It was so successful, that virtually nobody talks about it publicly in detail. On the flip-side, Artificial Intelligence is rapidly bringing down the cost of conducting such operations at scale. Access to tools & methods are being democratized which creates asymmetries in the ecosystem and changes the balance of power.

Artificial Empathy
It is perplexing how so many people are excited for Artificial Intelligence yet seemingly do not care much about the very intelligent beings all around them. Spending just 30min learning about how we treat animals or what the state of biodiversity is, will shock & change anyone.

AI Artist - Comic by Calponpon
#Comment: Something about it taking 10,000h of practice to master something & how the practice itself is the goal and profoundly changes one character... But then again who cares, stop calling it "Art" and be done with the silly discussion. Generative Media is a form of communication.

High-tech Escapism
As the natural world declines (69% drop of global biodiversity on average since 1970, etc.), the amount of people that choose to fully immerse themselves in virtual experiences grows quickly. Connected? What are viable alternatives to hightech escapism & hyper consumerism?

Super Mario Mouse - Generative AI Art by @WeavingWithAI
You hear that sound? It's 20k top lawyers working for Disney, Nintendo & co. getting ready to legally prevent Generative AI systems of crashing the IP game. Is "Super Mario Mouse" still copyright infringement when you walk it 5% to the 'left' in latent space? Fun times.
Deniz Opal: "Well this has come to a head. In order to protest AI image generators stealing artists work to train AI models, the artists are deliberately generating AI art based on the IP of corporations that are most sensitive to protecting it."
#Comment: Master piece in the endless dialectic: We're at the point where independent artist are begging big corporation lawyers to step in hard and further strengthen the already insanely strong Intellectual property laws. All due to generative AIs which serve the same corporate interests..
Anti-AI "Artists" will join Copyright Alliance (Dinsey, getty images etc)

Generative Perspective
Proponents of machine learning & neuroscience advocate that the perception of reality is generated by the brain's internal 'world model'. A more interesting view is that its not just perception, but reality itself that is generated, including the perceiver, the brain & spacetime. In this view the challenge is not control and optimization, but cultivation & relaxation.

The Evening of the Magicians
With even basic knowledge about "Magic, Attention Management & Persuasion" the world reveals itself as a grand stage where Billionaires, Politicians, CEOs, Generals & Celebrities are all just puppets, conjured up by mediocre magicians hiding in the margins, trying to trick you. Who are these magicians? On closer introspection, all paths clearly lead to you.

It's the economy stupid...
If you are focusing on "the economy", you are completely fooling yourself. Focus on what really matters: Between 1970 and 2018, wildlife populations declined an average of 69 percent. Similar statistics can be found across the natural world, on which our very existence depends. It's certainly time to get our proprieties straight - the business people, accountants, bankers and economists are not able to and urgently need help.

#Comment: Despite all ethical arguments, human-animal chimera research is advancing rapidly. What is possible & likely being done behind closed doors, has eclipsed the public imagination by far.
